Shepherd’s Pie made from ground beef and veggies is one of my all time favorite comfort food.
This dish is a British Classic. Although the recipe has many many variations available, this is the one that I absolutely fell in love with. With ground beef layer at bottom and potato crust on top, seasoned with some herbs.
I think one of the reasons why shepherds pie with ground beef is my go-to-meal is me is because of how easy it is to make. There are no extra special ingredients required, it’s very filling, and it’s the perfect dish for as a normal meal or a special occasion.
Now, I know you aren’t here to read me ramble about how awesome Shepherd’s Pie is so let’s get cooking! 😂

Let’s start by peeling the potatoes and cutting each in 4 pieces. Now place them in a medium-sized pot and add cold water to it. Next, let’s add 1 tablespoon of salt to it and set it over high heat. You should cook them until they become tender. |

Now we will take 2 pounds of ground lamb and add that to the mix. Cook it for about 5 minutes. By now, the meat shouldn’t be pink at all. Add some season in form of salt, pepper, chopped rosemary, and thyme. Add 4 tablespoons of flours and 1 tablespoon of tomato paste and stir them to mix with the main dish. |

Let’s check back on our potatoes! By now they should be perfect to make a delicious puree. Let’s transfer them to a bowl and mash the potatoes until there are no lumps left. Then add butter, milk, egg yolk, salt, and pepper to the mashed potatoes. Mix until the mixture become smooth. |

Preheat the oven to 200°C or 400 °F. |

Take an ovenproof dish (13” x 8.5” / 33 x 22 cm) and layer the meat mixture in it, then spread the puree over the meat mixture. |
